New Be-Ge DPS 3000 seat tackles ergonomics

By Andy Collings

Swedish manufacturer Be-Ge has now launched the DPS 3000 seat for both the OEM and replacement market, and aims to have the most comfortable and ergonomically acceptable seat on the market.

This seat has an integral compressor to supply air for its suspension system – a system that can be switched off when operating in really demanding terrain to prevent excessive seat movement.

If required, a nice touch is for the DPS 3000 to be equipped with a fan which draws air through the seat base and back support to extract heat and provide a more pleasant operating environment.

The standard specification includes an adjustable shock absorber and seat sides that can be brought in to provide support for the driver. The seat can also be allowed to swivel and tilt, and the base of the seat can be extended to accommodate taller drivers.

An interesting option is a vibration sensor fitted into the base of the seat which is linked to a cab-mounted monitor. Through use of green, orange and red lights, the monitor keeps the driver informed of the degree of vibration being received. A Bluetooth connection can also relay this information to the work’s office.

In some EU countries – Sweden, for example - there is already legislation in place regarding the maximum amount of vibration that drivers can be exposed to.
