Redrow to make hundreds redundant

By Neil Gerrard

Redrow has become the first major housebuilder to cut jobs as it made around 15% of its workforce - about 200 people - redundant.

The move follows news from Redrow yesterday that it had seen reservations drop 50% on the same period last year.

It also hinted at further cuts following a disappointing spring sales period, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Meanwhile Stewart Baseley, chairman of the Home Builders Federation called on the government to take immediate action to stem further job losses in the sector.
