Skanska lands £88m Two Kingdom Street job

By Brian Warner

Skanska has scooped its second landmark deal in London in as many years from Development Securities.

The latest project is the £88m Two Kingdom Street project at Paddington Central.

The contract involves a 13-storey building spanning 46,200m2, comprising 10 floors of flexible office space plus two floors of studio workspace for business starter units. The complex is due for completion in January 2010.

Skanska's in-house team will also be tackling mechanical and electrical services, piling and foundations, plus ceilings and plasterwork.

The building will also feature a number of environmentally-friendly features, such as solar panels and external cladding incorporating solar control glass and some elements of shading.

Some elements of the building will be prefabricated off-site to allow reductions in the construction period.

In 2006, Skanska scooped the £75m One Kingdom Street deal.
