Olympic rowing centre contract up for grabs

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has put a contract to build an enhanced rowing and canoe/kayak facility for the London 2012 Olympic Games up for tender.

The contract will involve the enhancement of the Eton College Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake near Windsor, Berkshire.

Among the enhancements will be:

  • The installation of a 50m bridge over a widened entrace to the rowing return lane
  • Construction of a cut-through between the competition rowing lane and the return lanes with a new bridge over the cut-through
  • The upgrade of an existing gravel/stone access road up to the competition venue

The contract will be awarded towards the end of 2008, and construction will start in early 2009.

The ODA has not provided details of a contract value.
