Police are investigating the cause of a spectacular fire that destroyed a six-storey block of flats under construction in Edinburgh over the weekend.
More than 100 residents had to be evacuated from nearby properties when the fire at Waterfront Gate broke out at 10.50pm on Saturday.
No one was injured in the blaze, which dominated the city’s skyline.
It is believed the site could be part of National Grid Property's £50m waterfront regeneration project The Forthquarter, which incorporates shops, homes and offices.
Police are seeking to speak to two teenage girls seen leaving the construction site in a “distressed” state shortly before the blaze started.
The first girl was described as being white, in her early teens with a slim build, 5ft 4in tall, with long blonde hair tied in a ponytail and wearing black jeans and a black, long-sleeved hooded top.
The second female was also white and about 5ft 4in tall, with straight, shoulder-length brown hair and wearing a pink short-sleeved t-shirt with dark coloured trousers.
