Tube Lines’ infrastructure investment ran to £107m in the first quarter of 2008.
The figure is included in Tube Lines’ latest quarterly performance report, covering the three months to the end of March. The forecast had been an infrastructure spend of £104m.
The details in Tube Lines’ update include:
Jubilee Line
- Stations: Willesden Green station upgrade reached practical completion and construction started on the improvements at Queensbury station
- Lifts & escalators: four refurbishments competed and returned to passenger service on time
- Track & civils work: 1,500m of trail renewed
Northern Line
- Stations: upgrades at Old Street, Brent Cross and Woodside Park all reached practical completion
- Lifts & escalators: three refurbished and put back to use
- Track and civils work: 1,200m of rail renews, 522 sleepers replaced and 163 new insulation pots installed.
Piccadilly Line
- Stations: Holloway Road upgrade complete
- Lifts & escalators: Knightsbridge escalator work continues while lift installed at Oakwood
- Track & civils: embankment stabilisation work between Hounslow West and Hounslow Central. Drainage work at Sudbury and Osterley.
On safety, Tube Lines had enjoyed two injury-free periods, but in the latest three-months under review there were three incidents towards the end of the period.
Despite this, the lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) stayed below the action level Tube Lines set itself.
