Liam Lambert, 23, and his brother Gary, 27, of Wymondham-based GSD Lambert & Sons, beat off competition from more than 500 entrants of JCB’s Backhoe Loader Operator Challenge at SED to take first and second places respectively.
Contestants had to undertake three timed challenges with JCB’s new EasyControls and Advanced EasyControls on 3CX and 4CX backhoes. Liam took two minutes six seconds to complete the tasks - beating his brother by 19 seconds.
The brothers were visiting SED on business and thought the Challenge would be fun.
“I’ve been driving JCB machines since I was six years old and we have a number of backhoe loaders and tracked excavators in the company fleet,” said Liam, adding: “The new EasyControls and Advanced EasyControls were very good.”
Liam wins a long weekend in New York - and intends to take Gary along for the trip.
