Wates preferred bidder for £12m dance building

Wates Construction has been announced as the preferred bidder to construct a £12m landmark dance building in Leeds.

Leeds City Council has appointed the company to work with architects Strategic Design Alliance on design proposals and to cost the building’s construction.

A final contractor will be announced at the end of the year, with work to start onsite in spring 2009 for a summer 2010 completion date.

The Leeds dance building will house the Northern Ballet Theatre and Phoenix Dance Theatre at Quarry Hill.
