Kier to shed 90 staff as admin offices close

Kier Group will shed around 90 staff in a plan to close two of its administration offices in Lincolnshire.

The company announced the offices, part of its Residential division in Spalding and Lincoln, will go in the face of the housing crisis.

Around 90 staff will be shown the door and others could be redistributed to St Neots in Cambridgeshire where Kier will move the management of its existing developments.

The company said it would consult with affected staff to determine if they could be placed elsewhere.

Kier Group chief executive John Dodds said it had to reposition the business to meet market conditions.

“In these uncertain times for the housebuilding market, it is essential that Kier takes major steps to restructure its homes division,” he said.

“This restructuring will result in a leaner, more efficient business which better matches the current demand for our houses, but will also place us inn a sensible position to respond to the market when it returns to more normal levels.”
