JCB has announced a record pre-tax profit for 2007 of £187m – a 25% increase on 2006 and the most successful year in its 62-year history.

Turnover also reached a new peak of £2.25bn as machine sales topped to 72,000.

The production was 31% higher than in 2006, with new products and ranges accounting for half of the growth alongside increased sales in India, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania and South America.

JCB said its share of the world construction equipment market, which it bases on volume than value, rose from 10.4% to 12% making it world’s third largest construction equipment manufacturer.
