Mike Parker, chief executive of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) is being considered as the next head of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
The claim, made in the Telegraph newspaper today, comes after reports that Parker has expressed an interest in the chief executive role at the NDA, which currently oversees all of the UK’s nuclear sites that are not in operation.
The article is timely, as the government has yet to fill the chief exec role, and BNFL is about to be broken up and sold, meaning Parker’s job will come to an end.
If Parker does get the job an announcement isn’t due until after the NDA has decided which bidding group will win the decommissioning contract for Sellafield. A decision is expected by 11 July.
