Schools minister Jim Knight has defended the Construction and Built Environment Diploma against contractors' claims that it is too academic, does not link to apprenticeships, and is being shunned by employers.
Speaking to CJ this week, Knight said the new Diploma would "bridge the gap between the academic and the vocational".
He dismissed contractors concerns that it had been watered down with little, if any, on site work experience.
