A schools caretaker, injured after falling from a stepladder, is suing his employer for up to £50,000 claiming he was not trained how to use it properly, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Anthony Gower-Smith,73, suffered a broken cheekbone, a fractured skull and a split kidney when he fell off the 6ft stepladder while removing a card display from a gym wall at Awbridge primary School, near Romsey in Hants, in 2004.
Gower-Smith is suing Hampshire County Council for liability, claiming that they did not tell him how to use the stepladder properly.
His is claiming damages of at least £15,000 and up to £50,000.
The council denies negligence.
