Two firms look to have gone head-to-head in the final run-in for a £150m regeneration deal near Wembley Stadium.
Sources say that only Laing O'Rourke and Balfour Beatty are now in with a shout for the job, with a pitch from a Costain/Sisk joint venture now unlikely to pass muster.
The contract is known as W05 and includes constructing a 402-bedroom Hilton hotel and an accommodation block to house around 650 students in a currently run-down area surrounding the stadium.
The project is scheduled for completion by late summer 2010.
Further developments totalling £170m-plus are also planned for the site. These include two apartment blocks, plus a package of retail and car park work.
