Planners have approved a Welsh farmer’s plans to build a generator that will turn cow poo into enough energy to power 130 homes.
Richard Tomlinson, from Holt near Wrexham, has started construction of the generator, which he hopes will be running by the end of the year.
He has funded the £500,000 project himself and has received interest from a number of energy companies keen to buy the electricity from him once he is hooked up to the national grid.
But he told the BBC he is only three quarters of the way there – planners are yet to let him combine the cow poo with food waste, which could power 500 homes.
He said he will continue to campaign the council to approve the green power alternative.
