Eco-town opponents mount possible High Court legal challenge

A group opposed to a proposed eco-town in Warwickshire has mounted a legal challenge against the project.

The Better Accessible Responsible Development (BARD) group calls the government’s eco-town process “unlawful” and lacking “adequate consultation”.

It has applied to the Administrative High Court for a judicial review of the process, as part of its campaign to protest an eco-town of 6,000 homes near Long Marston.

It wants the proposed eco-town “quashed".

A spokesman for the group said it hoped to hear from a judge within four weeks if the case can be heard in the High Court.

The BARD group, supported by Dame Judi Dench and John Nettles, say the Long Marston plans would “devastate” Stratford-upon-Avon.
