Oldham Athletic sponsor Hillstone in administration

Oldham Athletic FC sponsor Hillstone Developments has gone into administration.

The Royton-based firm, which is thought to have posted a £75m turnover in December, has appointed Manchester accountants PKF as administrators.

Around 30 staff at its head office were told on Monday by the administrators that they had lost their jobs and would not be paid last month’s wages.

Contractors are also rumoured to be chasing payment.

Hillstone was behind several major Oldham developments, including six floors of apartments and retail facilities at the Victory, 58 two-bedroom apartments at Cardinal Court and 57 apartments at The Bank.

It is understood that every development at Hillstone is undertaken using a separate stand-alone company and the administrators are simply dealing with Hillstone Developments Limited.

Hillstone was formed in 2004 by Craig Halliwell and former professional sportsman Tony Bhatti.

It is the shirt sponsor of Coca Cola League One football team Oldham Athletic.
