Tyre re-tread specialist Vacu-Lug has said its new vehicle management system (VMS) offers a 'one-stop-shop' for fleet managers - even if the fleet consists of earthmoving equipment, trucks and vans.
Being web-based, VMS customers can track their tyre costs 24/7 and can check usage by vehicle, by tyre size and by location.
Working through a network of 800 service providers, Vacu-Lug is able to cope with machines in hire fleets operating at different locations around the UK - as it does for a national trailer hire company.
Customers who sign up to the system have the tyres on their machines inspected monthly and can specify wear limits and quality levels for replacement tyres, while the regular checks ensure a higher proportion of casings are suitable for re-treading.
VMS customers get a single consolidated bill and can use the website to check individual charges, the remaining tread depth on each tyre and when a machine was last inspected.
In addition to the pay-as-you-go service, Vacu-Lug offers VMS customers a full contract package, including a fixed price per hour for plant, or per mile for on-highway vehicles.
The company re-treads more than 200,000 casings per year at its facility in Grantham. These typically cost 70% of the price of a new tyre.
