Ford increases options on Transit Connect

By Colin Sowman

Ford has increased the loadspace options and introduced a limited edition sports version of its Transit Connect.

A new bulkhead in the Connect Crew Van can be slid forward when the second row of seats is folded, allowing the loadbed length to increase by 357mm, while retaining protection for the driver and passenger.

The bulkhead slides on tracks in the roof and locks into the floor so when there are no rear seat passengers, the loadbed can be extended to 1,266mm on the short wheelbase and 1,529mm on the long, without compromising the safety of the occupants.

In September, the company will introduce a limited edition (300) Connect Sports Van in 'Performance Blue' with 'Le Mans' white stripes, colour-coded bumpers, roof spoiler, alloy wheels and the 1.8 litre/81kW diesel engine. Inside are leather seats, air conditioning and a six-CD changer with Bluetooth and remote control. Prices will start from £15,325 (ex VAT).
