Lynn Wilson, former chairman of housebuilder Wilson Connolly, has been killed in a car accident in Scotland. He was aged 69.

Wilson sold the Northants-based Wilson Connolly to Taylor Woodrow in 2003 for £480 million. Together with his brother Con he then figured in the top 20 of the annual UK rich list.

He was also an ex-president of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and a keen racehorse owner. He was heavily involved in charity work through the Wilson Foundation which he set up to help young people in Northants.

According to Grampian police, Wilson’s 4x4 vehicle was involved in a pile up with another car and a lorry. He was taken by air ambulance helicopter to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
