Carillion and Igloo scoop £400m Olympic media centre

By Roxanne Millar

Carillion and Igloo have been confirmed as developers of the £400m London 2012 Olympic media centre.

The consortium will construct three buildings 1.3 times bigger than Canary Wharf Tower to house more than 20,000 media covering the Games.

It will then turn the space into new media and creative offices, creating about 8,000 jobs in the area.

Planning permission is expected later this year, while final finance arrangements have not been agreed.

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) said it expected finance deals to be in place before construction begins next September.
