Eight new nuclear power stations will be built across England over the next decade.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the new stations are likely to be built beside existing facilities in Sizewell, Hartlepool, Heysham and Dungeness.
The Planning Bill, to be reviewed in parliament this week, will be used to fast-track approval for the plants if it is approved.
However, the government has pledged to consult formally on the plans before formally announcing the scale of the programme.
Experts have warned without the construction of new power plants, the UK faces major blackouts by 2015.
