Local firm Kingerlee has beaten three rivals to take a £35m deal to build the Kendrew Quadrangle project for St John's College, Oxford, after a two-stage tender exercise.
The scheme is a four-storey development including 68 student study bedrooms, apartments and a library.
The basement will house a gymnasium, events room and archive storage.
Construction work is due for completion during summer 2010.
Walter Lilly, Galliford Try and Kier also priced the job.
