Mears unveils £170m-worth of social housing awards

Mears’s latest pair of social housing contract wins, worth a total of £170m, brings the total value of awards over the past four months to £340m.

Bob Holt, chief executive, said: “The first six months of 2008 has been record breaking for Mears in terms of wins.

“We place great emphasis on good quality contracts that provide clear and sustainable margins and where our partnership ethos will be valued. The pipeline remains strong. Our orderbook stands at £1.6bn and the visibility of future revenues has been enhanced.”

Mears’ latest pair of awards are:

Metropolitan Housing Trust (MHT)

A 10-year sole partner contract for a client with properties in London and the Midlands to provide responsive repairs, planned maintenance, cyclical decorating and voids services.

MHT owns 30,000 properties and the contract is worth £157m. Operations are set to get underway on 1 October 2008.

Bracknell Forest Homes (BFH)

A four-year deal to carry out Decent Homes works. BFH was set up in February this year following a transfer out of council ownership. The client has 5,600 properties and the value of the deal is put at £13m.
