Westminster Council is planning to build more than 500 affordable homes in central London.
The council wants to build 246 rented homes, 104 shared-ownership flats and 69 one-bedroom places on brownfield land and underused sites on existing council estates.
Areas will include Little Venice, Hyde Park, Bayswater, Edgware Road and Queen’s Park and the homes will remain affordable through a clause on the lease to ensure discounted prices are passed onto future buyers.
To help finance the scheme, Citywest Homes will build 107 properties, reported the Evening Standard.
Citywest Homes hopes to begin consultation with residents in weeks and bring schemes forward within 12 months.
