Europe’s largest onshore wind farm has been approved for South Lanarkshire in Scotland.
The 152-turbine Clyde wind farm near Abington will be able to power 320,000 homes and will create 200 jobs during construction.
Scottish ministers approved the £600m Scottish and Southern Energy wind farm today, which will be built in clusters on the M74.
Construction will begin in 2009 and be completed in 2011.
Once operational it will have a capacity of 548 megawatts.
