The design of the London 2012 Olympic village resembles “Soviet-style blocks”, it has been claimed.
Conservative Olympics spokesman Andrew Boff said the village would create a “hostile environment” for residents.
He has called for the plans to be rethought quickly and radically.
He told the Evening Standard: “The village was supposed to have been planned with the long-term legacy for east London in mind.
“But these Soviet-style blocks create a hostile environment and no place in which to bring up families.
“We don’t want a return to the concrete jungles of the past that did so much to blight the lives of those who had to live in them, and ended up being blown up.”
