A lift engineer is fighting for his life after being hit by a falling object on Miller Construction’s Broad Quay site in Bristol.
The 35-year-old man was winched from the bottom of the lift shaft where he was working and taken to Frenchay Hospital with critical head injuries.
The details of what hit him and the circumstances of the accident have not been released but it is not believed to be the lift that hit him.
The accident occurred at about 3pm on the Bristol city centre site.
Miller Construction is in the process of transforming the former Bristol and West Tower into a luxury Radisson hotel.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.
