Five contractors have made it onto the shortlist for a £21m deal to revamp the National Construction College (NCC) at its flagship campus at Bircham Newton, Norfolk.
Galliford Try, Kier Regional, Morgan Ashurst, Wates and local outfit RG Carter have made the cut from an initial field of ten hopefuls.
The NCC aims to make a final appointment later this year, with work on site beginning during summer 2009 and expected to run for two years.
The project includes new accommodation blocks, a restaurant, sports centre and offices.
The scheme is supported by a grant of £17.2m from the Learning and Skills Council.
