Conlon Construction has seen its pre-tax profit drop 30% to £639,000 for the year ended 30 April 2008.

But turnover at the Preston-based contractor, which undertakes design & build, new build and refurbishment, for both public sector and private clients, increased 25% to more than £31m.

Conlon chairman Theresa Noblett said the company had also started to take on larger contracts for several clients, with individual contracts now ranging to over £7.5m.

Last year saw a restructure at the business, with the creation of Conlon Holdings in May 2007. Conlon Holdings now incorporates the group's investment activities, while Conlon Construction's results now cover its construction activity only.

The move saw around £11.6m of net assets trasferred from Conlon Construction to Conlon Holdings.

Conlon Construction employs 107 people.
