Pop's Peter Waterman to give axed JCB workers jobs

By Neil Gerrard

Pop svengali Peter Waterman is to interview some of the 700 JCB workers who were made redundant earlier this month, because he desperately needs 65 engineers for his railway maintenance companies.

Waterman, a rail enthusiast, owns London and North Western Railway and London and North Western Railway Heritage, both based in Crewe, Cheshire.

He told the Sunday People, that there was a shortgage of young people coming into engineering, and that the average age of his employees had now hit 56.

"JCB were shocked when we rang but we are delighted to offer people jobs," he said.
