Up to 40 staff at Scotia Homes could face the axe as the Scottish housebuilder contemplates mass redundancies.
Based in Aberdeenshire, the firm builds about 350 homes a year in Scotland but is understood to be suffering under the property downturn.
According to the BBC, redundancy numbers have not been finalised but they are expected to run up to 40 – no more than 20 from its two offices.
Managing director Martin Bruce said the company had undertaken a thorough review of its business before announcing the job losses.
“Although we are fortunate at the level of advanced sales, the review will help to ensure long-term stability, albeit going forward at reduced levels,” he said.
