Man pulled from quicksand by Jackson civils workers

A passer-by in Colchester has quick-thinking civils workers to thank for saving his life after he became trapped in mud up to his neck.

The man was spotted by a Jackson Civil Engineering worker stuck in mud at King Edward Quay in Colchester.

He was rescued using an articulated self-propelled platform as the River Colne’s tide approached.

Two workers operated the platform to reach the man and held onto him until emergency services arrived.

Moments after his successful rescue, the tide came in and covered the area where he had been trapped.
