Shepherd scoops local college deal

Locally-based Shepherd has surfaced as preferred contractor for the £25m Goodricke College deal - the first building on the University of York's expanded Heslington East campus.

The scheme will provide accommodation for 617 students in a mix of houses and flats.

The college will feature a raft of green measures, such as channelling surface water to a feature lake, heat recovery systems, and sustainable timber frame sources.

Students are due to take up their new residences in October 2009
