Highways Construction Works, Torbay Council

Applications are invited from suitably experienced contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion in Select Lists of Tenderers for the following scheme categories:

• Category A: TENDERS for HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION SCHEMES 2008/2009 between £150,000 and £400,000 Approximate Cost Range, Including;-PRESTON CONGESTION RELIEF SCHEME, PAIGNTON. This Contract will include a series of small linked Highway Improvements within the Preston Congestion Zone Area of Paignton.
• Category B: TENDERS for VARIOUS HIGHWAY and CIVIL ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION SCHEMES and MINOR IMPROVEMENTS 2008 / 2009 between £25,000 to £150,000 Approximate Cost Range.

For the Category B works contractors may be invited to provide tenders for one or more of a number of smaller highway and civil engineering construction schemes including highway improvement, local safety and traffic management schemes, car park and environmental improvements.

Both categories of schemes may include, inter alia, high quality concrete slab and block paving and kerbing, together with bituminous carriageway and footway construction, associated drainage, ducting, street furniture and landscaping, pedestrian guard railing and vehicular safety restraint barriers within car parks. Applications will only be considered from contractors having a proven track record in this type of work.

Applications must state which category the contractor wishes to be considered for and must be accompanied by the following information:

• A list of similar principal contracts undertaken in the last three years with the clients’ name, address and telephone number in order that references can be taken up.
• A statement of the company’s technical expertise, labour and plant resources available.
• Provision of Equal Opportunities and Insurance policies.
• Copies of audited accounts for the last three years.
• Information on preventive measures taken by the company in the field of health and safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, and details of the company’s safety record.
• An indication of the proportions of the contract[s] the applicant may intend
• to sub-contract.
• Information relating to any registration that the company may have with Constructionline, or Exor, or other similar organisation, including the company’s registration number.
