Ambulance used to move timber decking

Ambulance officials are investigating why one of its vehicles was used to move timber in Scotland.

Men were seen loading timber planks into the marked patient transport unit in Inverclyde that was supposed to be in a workshop being decommissioned.

A Scottish Ambulance spokesman said preliminary investigations suggested the vehicle had been used to transport “a few decking planks” for a domestic DIY job.

“It doesn’t look like building supplies, it looks domestic,” the spokesman said.

The ambulance was not a 999 response vehicle.

The spokesman said the vehicle was not in use anymore and was supposed to be in a Scottish Ambulance workshop to have its badges and equipment removed.
