Galliford Try has started work on a £40m 10,600-seat stand at the home of the Leicester Tigers rugby club.

The new north stand is expected to be finished by May next year and bring capacity at the Welford Road stadium up to 24,000.

Construction of the new stand will take place behind the old stand, which will be demolished in May next year, according to the BBC.

The final stage will include bringing the new stand into place.

About 50 workers will be on site initially, but that is expected to increase to 150.
