Plans for the London 2012 Olympics could be scaled back to save money.
Olympics minister Tessa Jowell said yesterday the £9.3bn budget for the Games site could not be exceeded because there was no more money available.
She said this limit meant some plans could be cut back, according to the Financial Times.
London mayor Boris Johnson, whose chief of staff Tim Parker quit yesterday, supported the news of any potential cost-saving measures.
He told the BCC: “Over the next few months we will be looking at ways we maximise bang for our buck.”
Mr Parker, whose appointment in the mayor’s office was derided by unions, quit over Mr Johnson’s decision to continue as chairman for Transport for London.
