Construction output down by over £300m in Q2

By Will Mann

Construction's output was down by over £300m in the last quarter compared to the first quarter of 2008, according to the latest GDP figures for the UK economy.

The figures for construction, as observed on Brian Green's Brickonomics blog, are worse than originally thought, with the fall of 0.7% revised to a fall of 1.1%.

This represents over £300m-worth of workload for the construction industry.

The dramatic fall in construction output is in danger of bringing the whole UK economy to a grinding halt, Green said.
