The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has started to draft a new European standard for transport platforms as it said the existing ones don't fully cover transport platform design and use. This has led to a situation where there are special guidelines in specific EU countries, which it said should be harmonised.
Work on drafting a new European standard is being undertaken by IPAF's Transport Platform Working Group (TPWG) and its International Mast Climbing Work Platform Committee.
A task force including manufacturers, users and experts in standards drafting and technical committee work has been elected by the TPWG to start drafting the standard. All manufacturers and users are invited to participate in the work.
