Bam reports 10% rise in turnover for first half of 2008

Dutch construction group Bam has reported a 10% rise in turnover for the first half of 2008, to £3.4bn.

Pre-tax profit also grew, from £125m to £133m.

The UK arm of Bam – HBG and Nuttall – contributed £854m to turnover, down £10m on the same period last year.

Bam said its UK building business, HBG, had performed well due to a series of public sector contract wins.

HBG said: “The decline in the commercial property market is only partly affecting HBG UK, but this decline is more than offset by the increasing number of contracts from the public sector.”

Bam announced earlier this year that HBG would change its name to Bam Construction in October, with Nuttall becoming Bam Nuttall.
