Mace is set to win the role of delivery partner on the £600m redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station.
Balfour Beatty and Carillion are thought to have lost out on the work, which is set to begin early next year, and will see the remodelling of the station and the construction of two 30-storey towers at the site.
All three bidders met Network Rail for a 'beauty parade' earlier this year, which examined contractors' soft skills such as their approach to partnering.
Mace has already secured a role as delivery partner on the Olympics as part of CLM, having undergone a similar process.
