Pegson jaw crusher saves on fuel

Trials have shown Pegson's X400S jaw crusher is more than 30% more fuel efficient that its competitors, according to its parent company Terex.

The machine has a direct drive to the crushing chamber, which gives substantial savings on running costs when compared with hydrostatically driven machines. In trials with an equivalent competitor machine, Terex said the X400S used fuel at 22lit/hr, compared with 33lit/hr for the competitor - which amounts to a £16,500 saving per year.

Terex also said the hydrostatically driven competitor has more than 1,300 litres of oil that needs changing every 250 hours, while the X400S only requires its 400 litres of hydraulic oil changed every 2,000hours - a saving of 96% or £14,700.

Paul Donnelly, general manager of Blue Group, London, said: "With today's high fuel prices, customers are very savvy to any fuel efficiency."
