McLaren Construction is linking up with developer Pendleridge to work-up designs for a new £18m hotel development in High Wycombe.
The contractor is being brought on board at the design stage to provide advice on the most cost-effective way to build the project.
The High Wycombe scheme is the first project for Pendleridge, which is headed by ex-Land Securities project manager Jez Conen. Also on board are former Amey regional director Frank Elliott and ex-Metsec financial director Derek Lum.
Conen said: “By teaming up with McLaren at a very early stage, cost risks can be identified and dealt with by the team before the design has become fixed.”
The scheme will involve converting empty offices into a new 130-bedroom hotel alongside a new nightclub.
A hotel operator has been lined-up for the scheme, with planning consent expected in early 2009 ahead of a 52-week construction programme.
McLaren chairman Kevin Taylor said: “We worked well together when Jez was at Land Securities and we know we can make this project another success.”
