Local firm Bowmer & Kirkland has thwarted rivals including Galliford Try, Miller and Laing O'Rourke and moved to the top of the class for a £96m college deal in the east Midlands.
The West Nottinghamshire College, one of the biggest such projects to date, will be built on a 6.4ha site bordering the Mansfield and Ashfield Regeneration Route.
Work on site kicks off next March and completion is expected in just under two years.
The deal includes three main buildings for the sports, construction, engineering and performing arts departments, together with general teaching and administration.
A 250-seat theatre, sports hall and health spa will also feature in the deal.
