Crane hirer Ainscough has been called in by Liverpool council to move a giant mechanical spider around the city.
The spider, which stands 50 feet tall and weighs 37 tonnes, was positioned outside various Liverpool landmarks as part of its European Capital of Culture year.
The job involved 16 different Ainscough cranes, ranging from 25 tonnes to 300 tonnes, and 300 crane lifts.
A 225 ton Liebherr LTM 1225 with 74 tonnes counterweight, accompanied by a 100 ton Liebherr LTM 1095, loaded and unloaded the spectacle from the city’s Concourse Tower.
A 300 ton Liebherr LTM 1300 with a counterweight of 112 tonnes was used to lift the spider into the water at Salthouse Dock.
Various 55 tonne, 80 tonne and 100 tonne Ainscough cranes were used in the setting up of the various shows put on by the mechanical wonder, and were used in the transport of special effect machines that followed the spider on its journey through Liverpool.
