Taggart Homes puts Northern Ireland building projects on hold

Londonderry-based housebuilder Taggart Homes has put its entire Northern Ireland building programme on hold.

A source at the firm said demand for homes in Northern Ireland had dried up in the past two years and that there was currently no demand for new houses.

“I wasn’t aware it was a conscious decision by management, but there just isn’t any demand there at the moment,” the Taggart Homes worker said.

"It isn't surprising considering what is happening in the market."

The firm is owned by Taggart Holdings, which has offices across the UK and in Europe and America.

Taggart Holdings states on its website that it has a global land bank valued at more than £500m.

The firm is believed to be continuing with work on other developments in other parts of the UK.
