End of the road for musical avenue - VIDEO

A Californian road that plays the Lone Ranger theme to motorists travelling along it will be resurfaced after locals complained about the noise.

A section of Avenue K in Lancaster had grooves cut in it at the request of Honda, who had it engineered to play the song at perfect pitch for Honda Civic drivers travelling at 55mph.

Bowing to residents complaints, the local authorities have promised to patch up the road.

Resident Donna Martin told a local newspaper: “I think it’s terrible because it keeps me up at night.

“You can kind of tell it’s music, but it’s not any tune or notes. It’s a scratchy sound, a high-pitched drone.”
