£140m biomass-burning plant proposed for Wales

A £140m biomass-burning power plant that could provide electricity for 50,000 homes is planned for Wales.

Taking two years to build, the Newport plant will run on woodchip and energy crops.

Plans for the plant were submitted by Welsh Power subsidiary CEC Generation yesterday, reported the Financial Times.
