More than 40,000 local authority construction workers are close to accepting a pay increase for this year worth 2.45% on basic rates.
The majority of other local authority workers have agreed to suspend industrial action over pay and refer their 2.45% offer for this year to ACAS for arbitration.
The move is set to change the tactics of council construction workers, who recently voted for industrial action after rejecting a 2.45% increase under their separate national agreement.
